When the pandemic began, many businesses were forced remote overnight, and tools like Slack were adopted to try and facilitate communications for displaced teams. Coming from a workplace dominated by email as a primary form of communication, the learning curve can be steep. What are channels? What do you create them for? What is a ‘reaction’? These concepts can be tricky to grasp without an experienced team member to show you the ropes.
Our focus was to help users understand the basics of Slack. The aim was to provide contextual and meaningful education at the point you need it, rather than interrupting what you’re doing. We ran a series of successful experiments to help people understand concepts such as channels, how to use reactions for work, and how to use messaging actions.
